Retouching Mother Nature

I love the irony here and wonder what she had said once she saw that "portrayal" of hers. Perception, as always, is defined by the viewer but here ... I can't help but think that her beautified portrayal works just as powerful as a caricature would. Because I perceive her ordinary if not ugly, this shot balances on the edge of cruelty and compassion. Simply excellent... btw... did you stage this scene? Or did life give it you as a present?

MVS said it all, with very perceptive comments. I can only add that the bottom and right edges are unfortunate in the way they are so closely cropped. But it is a very good photo.

The scene was not staged. Usually I'm not staging scenes, but waiting 4 that particular moment, which will fulfill my predictions.

I was lucky, that an artist drawing the lady was very patient and has ignored myself 4 a quite while.

Very good! This picture dragged me immediately while browsing your portfolio... BTW, did you crop this from a bigger picture? It looks a little bit like that. In any case, cropped or not, I like the composition quite much, with the drawn portrait filling all the vertical space available. Good title too! Regards,
