durr3 0 Posted July 20, 2005 Great street capture, Amy. I love the conflict. Very nice work. Link to comment
rnt 0 Posted July 20, 2005 Interesting juxtaposition! If a 'decisive moment' moment then good catch. If a posed moment then hmmmm... Link to comment
amysn 0 Posted July 20, 2005 Most definitely not posed. Just walking down a street and saw this girl standing there. I'm new to street, and felt self-concious, so, after a minute, waved to her, but she was oblivious, lost in her world. Thanks! Link to comment
mjerabek 0 Posted July 21, 2005 I like the subject - very nice, intriguing indeed. As far as execution is concerned - isn't the girl a bit out of focus? Or the graffiti? In fact I have a problem to find something sharp and I think both "focused girl - off-focused graffiti" and the other way round would have worked (or even both elements in focus). What about the "grain / noise" issue? If it wasn't stated that the picture is unmanipulated, I would have thought that you might have added some "photo grain" in digi-posprocessing.But I like the photo all the same because the moment seems to me to be so nicely captured and subject engaging! amysn 0 Posted July 21, 2005 Michal, Michal, Michal... you are again so right on. Tonight I was out shooting - and I thought "someone is going to wonder why the girl is a bit out of focus." And there it is. Well, there a couple of reasons (no, did not add grain). It was getting dark - after 9 PM, so the ISO was very high. And, there was another element in the shot - but I could not get it to look quite right, the framing was off, so, even though the other element (a headless manequin standing off to the left) was great, I cut it. Thanks again Michal! Link to comment
mjerabek 0 Posted July 21, 2005 Amy, I am glad that I have not disappointed you, but that of course was not the purpose of commenting on this photo - in fact I bumped into it by very chance from the Galery Top Photos / Recent Average without even noticing in the first moment that it is again you.9PM - that explains it all, of course. And I think the picture was worth taking even in unfavourable light conditions. By the way would you mind sending me a small scale copy of the full frame photo? Just that I am curious about the manequin. Link to comment
amysn 0 Posted July 22, 2005 Michal - here's the original - yes, of course, your feedback is taken kindly, and appreciated. Nice to know you saw my photo in the gallery top photos - even if it might have been on page umpteen! :-) Curious to read/see what you might be able to pull out from the original, if you try, or your thoughts on it. Oh - I checked the time on the shot, 8PM; ISO 1600. - Amy Link to comment
