Setting Moon without telescope.

airwinger

Photo taken with Canon 10D set to manual at 1/90th second with F5.6 and using a Sigma 50/500mm lens. I had my camera resting on the roof of a car so the capture was almost hand-held.

I realize that taking a photo of the moon is not original and many

members have posted their results on Photo net but please read my

technical details for equipment used to get this photo. I do not own

a telescope or any ultra-high quality image stabilized lenses. I

didn't even use a tripod or an extention shutter release button.

Please leave your comments. I would like to know your opinions on my

results. Many thanks for looking.

Very sharp Steve,

I have tried this with some what dubious results with my 70-200 F2.8 IS with a 1.4 extender. Good shot,Bill

I did try this first using both aperture priority and shutter priority but both just gave a white blob. I was very suprized that manual mode gave much better results even at 1/90 second.

Very nice! A mailing list I am on is always going on about how conventional lenses aren't good for astrophotography. This shot should make them re-think that. Very well done
