doug_cooper 0 Posted July 13, 2005 Very eye catching, I love the choice of framing the church in the twisted fence, and the diagonal edge cutting the lower portion of the frame supports it nicely. I might be happy to lose the corner of the building in the lower right of frame though. This might also be interesting as a purely b/w image as well. Link to comment
louise bridge 0 Posted July 13, 2005 Indeed. The composition here is beautifully choreographed, such that the fence's spikes seem to be dancing ironically in the dusky grey-toned sky. You have presented a very striking image here E Modest. -Louise Bridge. Link to comment
chris hughes 0 Posted July 14, 2005 Very original shot. Good eye in finding this framing. Did you shoot other versions with different focus points? Link to comment
antonio.giacomo 0 Posted July 14, 2005 Very nice. If that was the unmanipulated colour of the original, it should be left, and not to be reduced to monochrome. I would have done a slight crop on the right to remove the unsupported branches, and I would have touched out the wires that run across the photograph, because the image is artistic, rather than reality. Otherwise, well done. Link to comment
marty_golin2 0 Posted July 15, 2005 A quite lovely shot. While accepting this wouldn't be the same image, I find myself wanting to crop out the branches & the building on the sides. Eliminating the "reality" might strengthen the relationship of the steeple to the spikes. Another variation that possibly you even took would be to put the steeple just above the fence to play up the similarity; but probably that's my version, not yours. Congratulations on your version regardless of my comments. Link to comment
root 0 Posted July 16, 2005 Well seen, but it begs to have been taken as a vertical or perhaps a square. I would also try it with different lighting / weather. Link to comment
louise bridge 0 Posted July 26, 2005 Yes, square format would be nice for this one. Carl is right and I'm glad he pointed it out so instructively. Link to comment
