home page1 0 Posted July 9, 2005 Awesome shot. What are your camera settings on this one? No, I don't have a clue on what this insect is but I love how you captured the motion of the wings. Link to comment

dk. 0 Posted July 10, 2005 Thanks Julio, Ken, Spencer, Richard, Pulok, Christoph, Roberto, Merni andA.K. Thanks for your time and comments, I am well Spencer other then having a sore back and knee and Ken the camera settings were like this Shooting Mode Aperture-Priority AE, Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/250, I know its low but I wanted to see movement in its wings and that is what I got. Av( Aperture Value ) 5.6, Metering Mode Evaluative Metering, Exposure Compensation +1/3, ISO Speed 200. This bug/fly/whatever it is ;o) kind of hovers like a helicopter at times and then takes off really fast. With the 300mm I was able to get his picture before he took off because I was able to stay about 4 feet away etc. I think it is an interesting picture, But I was hoping that it would say cheese and smile much more then it did! And maybe for it to stick out its thumb as if to wanted to hitchhike home etc. :o) lol. Take care and thanks for stopping bye everyone. DK. Link to comment
t_p6 0 Posted July 10, 2005 Nice shot David, I would have loved to have seen it with a 1/1000th great soft colors in this one. Link to comment
dk. 0 Posted July 10, 2005 Thank you TP, Yes I could have used a higher shutter speed to freeze its wings but those are the pictures that I have seen and so I wanted to see movement in them and so I did what I did. But I understand and think next time I get the chance I will try for both shots, Wings moving and wings frozen. Thanks for stopping by and your time TP, I hope you like some of my other pictures also. Take care. DK. Link to comment

dave_hurt 0 Posted September 22, 2005 you definitely caught the fleeting moment. makes me wonder, where are all the insects in chicago? maybe it'd look even better if you cropped it a bit more tightly around the insect? the dead space gives the insect freedom i guess but... Link to comment
delwyn_ching 0 Posted July 16, 2007 She's an entomologist. Sorry for being 2 years late but gave you a 7/7. Grabbed the pix and put it into my hard drive for my wife to view later on. Link to comment
