seandepuydt 2 Posted July 4, 2005 A worms view of Snail Shell Harbor. This is a working image, as I haven't decided if this is the final version or that it needs some more work; so your thoughts are appreciated. I placed my camera on a rock, camera plate touching water, and took several shots. This is the best version. I was trying for something a little different. Credit for this idea goes to Daniel Bayer. Let me know what you think. Thanks Sean Link to comment
scott_webb1 0 Posted July 4, 2005 Framing, depth of field, cool shadows, landscape and smooth clear water... it has it all. Link to comment
mjerabek 0 Posted July 4, 2005 This photo is already good as it is. Suggestions: a small bit more sharpness and contrast? Everybody has got his own whims and preferences. May be some added saturation? Hard to tell, it is up to you. But the place looks fantastic and the "worms view" of the place interesting. Link to comment
mjerabek 0 Posted July 5, 2005 Well, as I stated above, it very much depends on your design and how you want to present the place. What about my attached one. Of course I do not say it is better or nicer, just different possibility (also technically it is far from perfection - made upon your lowres jpeg in less then 5 minutes - I have attached it only to present my ideas in a clearer, although still very simplified, way). oliver_deighton 0 Posted July 5, 2005 In my opinion, the original has more mood than any of the other versions. Leave it as is and enjoy! Link to comment
mjerabek 0 Posted July 6, 2005 May be Oliver Deighton is right - I was not there and may be what I offer is just a different place in different time. I really just wanted to present what I mean by "more saturation" and "more contrast". Regards - MJ. Link to comment
fotoslim 0 Posted July 24, 2005 Excellent work, I confused the tree trunks with stone formations, the definition of the tree-lined area accuses them... A greeting and thank you for your comment Link to comment
chriss1 2 Posted September 3, 2005 incredible extremely high - detailed rocks underwater, strong composition, just perfect! Link to comment
jimg 0 Posted September 18, 2005 I like your unique take on this landscape. Very creative and very well executed. The image does look like it could benefit from a mild color correction. The blacks don't seem truly black and there might be a very mild color cast. Super cool shot... between looking at your work and news from a friend traveling in upper Michigan I now really want to make a trip there. Link to comment
seandepuydt 2 Posted September 18, 2005 Jim, thanks for taking the time to comment on several of my photos. I think you would enjoy the U.P. If you decide to make the trip let me know, perhaps we can meet. - Thanks Sean Link to comment

LenMarriott 9 Posted April 7, 2007 Sean, A nicely balanced composition with details in the elements which would be lost in deep shadow were the sun shining. Beautiful glassy water. One can feel the calm. I took the time to very slightly adjust the levels for a bit more 'snap' and the USM to crisp it up a bit. (not sure it needs it, I'm just a tweaker at heart) Opinions? You don't mention the film used but I'm betting it wasn't Velvia.(or the light was flatter than I imagined) Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted April 7, 2007 Sean, Naw, I like your origial better. I may have overdone it a bit. Seems to have lost it's subtlety with my 'tweaking'. Couldn't tell until I saw them both on the same page. I'll leave it anyway in case others would like to wade in here. Best, LM. Link to comment
