The Fourth of July

WJT

Exposure was determined with a handheld reflected reading at ISO 4.5, and was about 4 seconds at f22. Gitzo 1325/Acratech ball head. Adjusted in Ektaspace using Photoshop CS. I think this looks best in LARGER VIEW, if you have the time.

This is my first use of this emulsion. I employed a Lee #87 polyesterinfrared filter, which is nearly visbly opaque. Its passband begins atabout 720 nanometers. The Macophot is sensitive to about 820nm,therefore we are seeing only a very small portion of the spectrum inthis photograph; only about 100nm.

I thought that it was interesting that the stripes in our flag wereinvisible. Also, the walkway is being sprayed by my lawn sprinkler andlooks very dark. Comments are invited and appreciated.

Have a HAPPY and SAFE 4th of July everyone!

Where did my comment go? Hmmm I didnt delete it. I did delete a photograph of mine today and had a forum post that was deleted last night, but I did not delete the comment. Okay.

Really nice photograph Walter! It inspired me to do one too. I could not get the flag to be still for 8 seconds. It looks pretty blurry compared to yours...

Glad you finally found the film in 120, I'm thinking about getting into medium format myself in the near future... cheers!

Thanks for the comparision shot Becky. Very similar conditions, and nearly the exact same subject. Did you use an #87 or an #87c filter (or something else)? Regards.

Lack of stripes on the flag bother me a bit, but I like the effect this gives. Interesting discussion.

Agreed. It was especially bothersome not to see them on Independance Day. Thanks for stopping by Kim. Regards.

I used the 87C gel filter. I think more direct sun as you have captured would have been better. I look forward to your holiday pictures, you have a nice flair for home and family... I do like the brightness of the stars on the field of blue. It is a very peaceful image, a sense of calm in troubling times. How do you keep the flag from moving, starch?

Nice IR effect with all the foliage. I agree with Kim about the flag. It has a slightly 'God bless Amer...' effect.
