I don't agree with the crop suggestion. Yes it needs some air. The light and space above are here very important.

i found your second one from this series more powerful then this one. however have to admit that her expression is quite interesting here. what bothers me here is not lighting nor the composition, rather the shapes created by body imprint which go in high contrast with the rest of the photograph. somehow i feel it distracts form its power. maybe if there were more texture to counter its effect it would work better. i recall a great and quite unknown si-fi polish film "tender spots", there was a sequence where main character is walking amids people wearing only clear plastic clothes. the take has this magnificent effect upon viewer, because the face+ hair seems so normal, a view we are so used to and where the visual abstraction of seeing a human body through plastic with additional lighting coming from wrinkles of worn clothes, created this quite surreal experience -> transparency. the connection between the two worked so great there. however with your new upload i can't connect the two opposing themes, which forces me to be more aware of used technique then your photograph.

thank you very much for your interesting comment. I think I understand what you mean, IMO "the shapes created by body imprint" make the image more stressful and give it more possibilities for interpretations, but I agree that athtetically it distracts form some power. However it is somehow less important for me in this particular image.

i think there are ways of adding even greater stress, but you being the person in control ( i hope ) will not give up futher explorations due that it was hard work, trust me there is more to find. wish you best of 'shooting'.

Is the model actually in a tank of water or is this just some masterful Photoshop technique? I love the lighting and I find it interesting how many viewers are disturbed by the pressing of the flesh which is what you wanted isn't it?...7/7

Wow, tremendous idea and execution thereof. The dull grey tone blending into the bright light at top (nooooooo, please no crop!!! ;-)) really makes this and somehow adds to the bleak state. The lighting and shadow on the submerged model's shoulders/arms/upper body is perfect.

Thank you very much to everyone for your visit!

Guy, I would not like to reveal all the secrets :)..but I can say that the only things from photoshop here are the contrast, colour balance and a little crop.

almost perfect. 7/7

The only thing... grane is a little too visible, but anyway (it might also depend on the resolution of the image in its web format). A great and succesful experiment, very original and well made.

Stefano, in this particulare image grain does not bother me, however in general, I should admit, grain is my problem. Most of my images are grainy, even if I use 100 or 200 sensitivity film and shoot in bright light. I cannot understand where it comes from...Many photographers tell me that grain is not a bad thing, on the contrary it gives a special feeling to the photo, but even if so, I would like to have control over it and decide myself when I want to have my pictures grainy and when not. Unfortunately, I don' t always manage so far.
