While I've never taken any pic on the subway, I've always liked how people look there, I guess it's because they just close into themselves and think, and this results in interesting expressions.

To me, this -very good- shot is an example of this.

Esteve

Closer is better for the steet. Just use a long lens to take some shot you will totally lost the feeling of that scene.

Very good and original street photo, though it seems too common at first sight. Yes, people close in themselves, as Esteve Boix noted above, but here also there's a physical separation between them what underlines this idea. Two tired ladies, maybe returning home after long working hours. And they'll continue to work at home. In fact, there's only a formal separation between them. They live the same life. So close and so far away from one another. These jaded faces are simply beautiful, Alex. I'd call your photo "social", rather than "street". Regards. Blago

This photo of nearness/farness separated by a physical barrier is one with which I am familiar, as I've identified it in other contexts. (For instance in my Travelogue I or II folder, there is a photo of two lean-to kiosks (shops) in Ukraine, one full of merchandise with merchant and another empty, also with merchant - contrasting the two -- the shop wall forms the physical barrier, viewed head on.

This shows how effectively a 'little' photograph can have greater impact/meaning. Physically these women are in very close proximity, but your photo shows they are miles/kilos apart in their thoughts, a form of preserving one's individuality when one finds oneself allowing others to invade one's 'space', don't you think?

A good 'little' photo that works very effectively.

I agree you guys all.

But to be honst I did not think about a lot when I took the photo. The subway is a magic palce for me. I waste a lot of films in the subway. But if you want to ask me the feeling I will say lonely.

Jone: I check out your photos alreay. My fav. is EARLY BLACK AND WHITE.Dude, that's some real stuff!

Alex, I feel that sometimes the better shots come from when we arent really "thinking" so much on a conscious level.
