nicholasprice 0 Posted March 20, 2005 I would very much value your opinions on this one - thanks, Nick. Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted March 20, 2005 Nicholas, I don't think this is one of your best. The contrast, sharpness and detail are a little down on your usual standard. However, using the tree to keep your shaddow out of the frame is a very good inovation. Where is this? Link to comment
nicholasprice 0 Posted April 1, 2005 This is near where I used to work, and where I lived for much of my student life, so I know it well. This is the old cemetery in Hackney (NW London). Hackney is now quite an impoverished borough, but in he 18th century it was a desirable village on the outskirts of town. Taxis in London are still called "Hackney Carriages", because the upper middle classes who lived in Hackney at that time needed transport to get them home from the metropolis. The cemetery harks back to a different era, and many of the tombstones give this away, for example Admiral Beaufort of Beaufort's Wind Scale is burried here. Now he shares his plot with the local Crack Cocaine dealers, and homeless alcoholics. You're quite right about the quality here Peter. This one stems from a time when I had a very poor quality flat bed scanner. I have rescanned this image directly from the negative, and reposted it. But I've included the previous scan here, so others will know to what your comment refers. Regards, Nick. Link to comment
