hique 0 Posted November 1, 2001 hmm...interesting. Photoshoped, right? I like the out of focus parts and the tight composition. Link to comment
fb 0 Posted November 1, 2001 Thanks for the comments! No photoshop was used at all. I was at a coffee shop seating in the bar and right on top of me there was a hanging lamp that reflected perfectly inside my coffe. This attracted my attention so I took out my camera and shot. Luckily I had B&W film loaded. I used maximum apperture and focused on the light bulb to blur the cup and background. Link to comment
priscilla_camacho 0 Posted November 1, 2001 Great composition. This was a very creative shot, with the light refelcting from the coffee. The shot might have looked better if the cup was out of focus more because it still detracts from the light. Link to comment
shupienis 0 Posted November 1, 2001 Nice composition. I would have stopped down a bit more to blur the cup less, because I prefer a little more sharpness, (or a lens with "nicer" bokeh) but that's just "my cup of tea." Link to comment
catherine_horey 0 Posted November 2, 2001 I like this picture as it is. This image is quite abstract, and before reading the comments I also thought photoshop had been used. Good job fooling the average viewer! Everybody has their own preferences about depth of field, and where focus should be. I won't give my opinions because those are calls to be made by the photographer to express creativity. You've shown creativity in this image. Link to comment
zcreem 1 Posted November 2, 2001 The more you look at this more you realise what a great shot it is, one thing though I would have liked to see the whole cup the crop at the top is a bit of a shame. Link to comment
tmeyer 0 Posted November 2, 2001 I like this one better than the other two. I would like to see the cup a little sharper as well, like Joe mentioned. I imagine that stopping down that far would have made the handheld shot impossible. Link to comment
dshechter 0 Posted November 2, 2001 Fascinating photo. Good eye for catching it and having your camera with you to shoot. I am a bit confused at the very shallow depth of field with only a f/3.5-5.6 lens. Considering that you were likely zoomed in, at 5.6 that tight focus is remarkable. Link to comment
patrick_michel_dagenais 0 Posted November 5, 2001 That picture turned my head so quickly my neck almost snaped. To know that no photoshop was used makes it even more special. Link to comment
fb 0 Posted November 7, 2001 Hi I just wanted to thank everybody here for the kind comments about my photo. About the cropping of the top of the cup: I had no other choice, the only way I could center the light in the coffee is like this. I moved the coffee cup all over the bar and this is the best perspective I could get. People at the coffee shop probably though I was crazy, but who cares if I got a nice shot right? By the way, I did use a small tripod that I always carry with me whenever I am with the camera. I am happy you liked this picture! Link to comment
