The weight of the modern concrete jungle on her back. I almost get the impression that, although she'd still be hunched over, in the more rural environment Andrea referd to, she would appear more relaxed and free. Which, of course, would just be another illusion, since most people working in fields at this age will be doing so out of poverty. City or countryside, they both have their own burdens, but at least in the countryside, she would still be useful. In the city, she's nothing, and feels it.

Thank you Ken, yes it is a piece of life, that can be found in many places in the world...

Stephen, thanks, you are so right in your interpretation, in the city or outside, here and there, it is a difficult situation.

Prina...what a strong image... Reaminds me of my grandmother..she also had one like this one... pulling it... all day... outside... my child's years are full of memories of her... with this small cart... Oh God... really so nice image... and its wonderful in B/W too... Thank you for making me remember some years that passed so back in time...

I like this one very much.It reminded us of reality and thinking of our future. Will I'll

have a life like her. But on the other hand

it poses independency. Or probably she just use

this to stabilize her gait.

It's surreal in deed,Pnina.

That is life, and your story Michael, is interesting, thats photography ,conservation of situations that are memories which connect us all in a way or another. I don't know Sally what was the situation of her life, I could photograph the scene, could not talk with her.

Thank you both for commenting your thoughts. Pnina

Beautiful image! Me too I prefer Carsten's version, I think. I don't understand why she is pushing that push-chair. Is that a (her own) puch-chair in the first place? is there any other function for it? Carrying her belongings and her memories, for example?..

Manolis, All your assumptions are valid ! I could only photograph the scene, but not talk with her, which I think could have been most interesting!

Hans and Manolis, I'm glad you like the sepia too, as I like it myself, and I think that both version have a place.

Thanks Pnina

this si a very good capture. the composition flows well into the viewer and there is an excelolent rendition of the posture (can feel the weight on her shoulders). very well done!

i prefer the sepia version although a 60-70% desaturated original may be another interesting variant.

Elderly females with shopping cart(sometimes it can be a chair. usually a walker) are very common in town, and this photo throws some questions on me. Are they living with their family? Are their husbands alive? How long do they walk everyday? I don't mind each one often in daily life, but this photo makes me think of them even if you didn't have the intention to do so. Well-captured face in a half-backlight condition.

From a wellknown daily scene you have made a very special image Pnina which appeals to the imagination. The shadow on the ground gives this shot an special dimension. Through that it looks as if the woman not only has to wheel her push-chair, but also needs her strenght to push herself forwards. In spite I love the colour version very much I think I prefer the sepia one. It gives to this touching scene an extra dramatic look.

I can feel the years on her shoulders, Pnina. I form the impression she ought to be in the pram with someone pushing her along - surely she's earned a rest?
