White Sands Lightning Storm
Hiking back to my car, at the end of my first day photographing White Sands National Monument, I was witness to an amazing storm in the distance. A huge thunderhead welled up in the afternoon and at dusk it became apparent that lightning was flashing in the gigantic cloud. I thought this might make for an interesting subject and fired off a few long exposures. At the time I took this photo it actually was quite dark. The exposure for this shot was roughly 30 seconds and the inner glow to the thunderhead is the result of multiple lightning strikes.
More of my images can be seen at http://www.jmg-galleries.com. Thanks for your time and comments.
