single photos Arlene comes ashore in Pensacola 6-11-05

The storm came in today June 11th. My local newspaper claims they

are going to use this on the front page. Instead of running from the

storm, people flocked to the beach.Yes,some were foolish.

I really like this! At first I thought the breaking waves were a row of shrubs/trees. The placidity of the watchers in the face of the force of Mother Nature is what makes this photo riveting. And the yellows/reds/blues work well. Nice work!

Earlier the waves were much larger but they were slamming against the wall and bouncing backwards.Anything is possible, especially when dealing with nature. 1 freak wave and they would all be gone.I can't agree with bringing the children there but at least they were not on the wall. It was unbelievable to have tons of water gushing up inches in front of your face.

Thanks for the comments. I was so lucky to be there during this time while the wind was blowing the waves backwards.I got quite a few shots. hmmmm..maybe a portfolio of them..
