mitchell_carter 0 Posted January 15, 2007 Some wind in the hair might have been nice (easier said than done, of course). Love the models; their facial expressions are perfect and hilarious. Congratulations on a great picture. Link to comment

calebcondit 0 Posted January 15, 2007 finally a photo of the week that I truly think it pushing some limits and adding a good dose innovation. Not that landscapes and hunting birds aren?t marvelous, but this is a bit outside the box and has doses of emotion mixed in, making it very unique. Congrats. Link to comment
puck 0 Posted January 15, 2007 i do not think this picture is worthy of being nominated as photo of the week. aesthetically there is nothing special about it other than the exposure itself being accurate. in terms of originality it does score very highly. i would have rated it 7 for originality and 3.5 for aesthetics. there is something rather artificial about the context and composition. from the lighting on the body of the female model and the face of the driver, the element of mud or dust being splattered from the back of the car to the underexposed backdrop. there is some comic value to this picture though and i could well imagine this as a storeboard of sorts in a men's magazine like fhm or maxim! Photo of the week it ain't worthy of being.. Link to comment
adw 0 Posted January 15, 2007 Love it! Such soft lighting. You even managed to get Chris Moyles to model for you, fantastic! Link to comment
thierry nguyen cuu - nomad 0 Posted January 15, 2007 Beautiful shot. A lot of speed and still. And definitely a lot of confidence in the driver :) Like it Link to comment
gulfbeach47 0 Posted January 16, 2007 LMAO! Love both of the expressions, especially the driver.. Link to comment
calebcondit 0 Posted January 16, 2007 you are definitely entitled to an opinion, but the "underexposed" background makes the foreground pop. It is expertly lit and it communicates. Photography is about communicating an idea and should be aesthetically pleasing...It does have a plastic sort of texture, but that doesn't make it any less valid. Just as I'm not exactly a fan of birds eating bugs, if it's well shot, it's well shot. I'm just happy that for once there's a bit of content in a photo that communicates and very well. You may not like the style, but you can't say it's not well lit. It seems to be very intentional, all that was done to this photo. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 14, 2007 I love everything about this image. I like both models facial expression, the placement of the female models legs and feet and hands, the direction of the tires, all of it. I'm curious to now the technical details of this image. What type of lighting, f-stop, shutter speeds and if you had any outtakes. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 23, 2007 This is certainly a humorous image, but I wonder if it's really a photograph. The tires don't seem to be spinning at the rate implied by the attitude of the vehicle, and if they were, the model wouldn't be on the hood. I suspect this is a wholly constructed scene. erikadams 0 Posted July 23, 2007 It seems that the most popular negative critique of a photograph is to say that it is not a photograph, but a constructed image. Recall that, long before digital photography, photos like this were being set up all the time. It's a pre-arranged, set up photo, not a composite. I would guess that the car is not moving but is perched on a rock to make it lean to the right. Perhaps the right rear wheel was removed and that corner of the car lowered on a jack. Then there is something behind the car throwing up dirt (shop-vac on reverse?), and perhaps a smoke generator. And of course, a couple of light sources. I would agree with an earlier comment that some wind in the hair might have been a nice touch, but overall, the scene is nicely set up, well-lit and funny. Link to comment
rj russell 0 Posted March 6, 2008 Spectacular! Reminds me of high school, dont know waht happened to the girl on the hood though! Link to comment
