josphy 0 Posted June 9, 2005 Cute model caught my eye -- a few thoughts...focus looks to be off. Looks like the shoulder is in sharper focus than the eyes, which for a shot like this doesn't work. Gotta have the puppy dawg eye look in focus. Also, I just think the selectively desaturating everything except one particular color thing has been done to death. I just see it in the tacky mall glamor shot photos. I think this would be a great image just in color. Link to comment
exiledreplicant 0 Posted June 9, 2005 Your right about the eyes...except I think I might have accidently done that in post-shoot when I was photoshopping. woops. lol Thanks. As for the desaturating I just don't see how it will ever go out of style with me...It's a beautiful thing to accent it and pop it out...But thank you very much for my first real critique on this web site, I apprectiate it very much. maroark 0 Posted June 9, 2005 Actually I think the selective desaturation works well here since the theme is St. Valentine's Day. It's also nice to see a typical glamour setup used with a male model. I get frustrated seeing mediocre glamour photos get high ratings here just because there is a nude/seminude woman as the subject. Let's see this how this one does... And btw, is this image any more original because the subject is a man? I would have to say... yes, but not dramatically so. Link to comment
josphy 0 Posted June 9, 2005 Oh, yeah now I see it looks like you softened the face a little in photoshop...maybe go back with the history tool and get the eyes back sharp. I don't use digital/photoshop much, so I didn't realize that was it. BTW, lots of good photos in the rest of your portfolio. Link to comment
donald_l_fackler_jr 0 Posted June 9, 2005 I like part of the photo, from the shoulder head and hear. I think the tonal composition is fantastic. The pose to me is off in the lower body and I think it has to do with the left leg crop. Something about the way you cut it at the hip joint doesn't look right. I think either you needed to have more of the leg showing or not show the lower half at all. I think part of what bothers me about the lower half of the body is there is no leading line down to it. You go from a point of focus in the foreground to blurred body in the background, it almost looks like two sepperate people, I want to see some kind of connection between the parts. Hope this makes sense. Don Link to comment
exiledreplicant 0 Posted June 9, 2005 Yes, what you say makes alot of sense and I can see what you mean. It went from good strong focus in the face to immediate blurred at his hip...there's no gradual decline into the photo. Thank you for the comments. I'll definately remember that. Link to comment
