Castle Stalker reflected.

ian cameron

A wonderful blue sky day with post card puffy white clouds I don't take many shots in the middle of the day as the light is usually not as sympathetic. However the clarity of this Spring day and the vivid nature of the colours surrounding what essentially is a rather squat dumpy castle make it quite irresistable.Pentax 6x7II, 55-100 zoom polariser and a hard edged 0.45ND grad across sky and water. 1/2 sec at F22, Velvia. Please feel free to visit my website for some other recent uploads, Transient light, There are some superb new shots at Timecatcher too.

I love castles! I'd like to see a tighter shot - OR, spectacular cloud formations in the sky reflecting in the water. Closer detail in the castle would hold my interest in that fascinating structure.

King Arthur: [about the inscription on the rock] What does it say, Brother Maynard?

Brother Maynard: It reads, "Here may be found the last words of Joseph of Aramathia. He who is valiant and pure of spirit may find the holy grail in the Castle of Aaauuuggghhh..."

King Arthur: What?

Brother Maynard: "The Castle of Aaaauuuggghhhh"

Sir Bedevere: What is that?

Brother Maynard: He must have died while carving it.

King Arthur: Oh come on!

Brother Maynard: Well, that's what it says.

King Arthur: Look, if he was dying, he wouldn't have bothered to carve 'Aaaauuuggghhhh'. He'd just say it.

Sir Galahad: Maybe he was dictating it.

King Arthur: Oh shut up!

Sorry. It was too good to resist. (:

Great shot, BTW!!! I love the colors!! 7/7

Hello Ian.

This is a wonderful photograph of Castle Stalker.

This Scotish tower house on an islet in Loch Linnie, has an important place in my heart. It is the ancestral home of the noble Stewarts of Appin - for many years I was in love with one of their clan. I have visited this spot many times, but never had such good weather as you! - Not very "West Coast", but certainly very beautiful!

Thanks for stirring the memories - 7/7

Regards, Nick.

Fantastic rendition of Stalker, one of the best I have seen. I experienced a flat, grey sky on my one and only day in the area.

Well done!
