My first paragliding flight

DB_Gallery

As I ate lunch and watched these guys pull the paraglider out on a tow line, I thought that was the jist of it until I noticed they kept going higher and higher....and then at about 2,500 feet above the lake, "Chink!' went the release. I thought, "Wow! that looks like LOADS of fun!!!" So I tried it...Fabulous!! I snapped this image with my wonderful aquaman sandals just before reaching down and pulling the realease. Nikon F100, 16mm 2.8 fisheye @ F/8 w Fuji Velvia.

I always wanted to go paragliding and now you have actually taken me up there without me even having to move from the chair! Wonderful breathtaking view, silvery water, gorgeous sky. What more could we ask for? Wow.

ps those sandals are colour co-ordinated with the scenics so well hehe

Great shot, love the sky in particular. What did you do with the camera after taking the shot? I assume you landed in the water, and would not have wanted to get your camera wet.

We landed on terra firma, I asked what the chances were of hitting the water and they were slim. Too much of a pain to deal with a big ol' tandem chute in the lake.

Saw this photo and thought "fabulous" - well composed and well executed technically.. Then saw the name of the photographer, and thought "not him again!" ;-) BTW, Dan, I saw your posting on the POW saying you will be packing it in with respect to PN... Please don't... Don't let a few idiots deprive us mere mortals of the opportunity to appreciate and learn from your talent.

Wow! What a great shot. The rich blues, the absolutely tack-sharp exposure, the not-overbearing sun and the sense of height elevate this (pun intended) well above the average.

Wasn't there a POW a few months back of a paragliding shot? Well, irrespective of your two previous photo.net accolades, if that shot was deserving of POW, this is twice so.

Envious on many counts...!

I love this picture! What a great mix of action and landscape. I can feel the thrill of the altitude, as well as the magnificence of the day. Congratulations! Oh . . . Jason, who cares about the camera!

Tremendous job... You have captured so many elements in this photograph, giving it such great appeal. The sense of depth is almost dizzying, with that line down to a miniscule boat, the perfect capture of the cirrus clouds and unbroken sea. Great job! I admire your courage in taking your camera in over-water flight!

I love the picture and the story that goes with it. I don't think I'd have the balls to do it myself, but I sure am glad that you did.

TWO great pictures in one. (The top half is a marvelous stand alone landscape.) This belongs on a cover somewhere! Or maybe a poster for the local chamber of commerce! All your photography is of such high quality I am sure you make a damn good living at it!!!!!!
