My first paragliding flight

DB_Gallery

As I ate lunch and watched these guys pull the paraglider out on a tow line, I thought that was the jist of it until I noticed they kept going higher and higher....and then at about 2,500 feet above the lake, "Chink!' went the release. I thought, "Wow! that looks like LOADS of fun!!!" So I tried it...Fabulous!! I snapped this image with my wonderful aquaman sandals just before reaching down and pulling the realease. Nikon F100, 16mm 2.8 fisheye @ F/8 w Fuji Velvia.

There was a picture like this at photonet. It was by a cheap digital camera and blurred. I was thinking to take same picture with good SLR. You done what's in my mind. Very nice.

This is a wonderful shot, not only gives you the awesome view but you actualy feel your up there, not a usual feeling with photographs, well done. Marc

I look at this with your legs in the frame then move them out and get a totally different feeling. Either way the clarity of the picture is great and the feeling I recieve from the image is cool.

Thanks for the Ride.

...but I am physically staying in Aspen until I line something up. It's been great to be home, lots of good freelance gigs as well as a staff photographer paycheck....;-)

I recall another shot on photo.net that got POW last year that was also shot from this angle only in the carribean somewhere with a Nikonos 5. I thought then that it was an awesome picture, but this tickles my fancy even more, especially the sky! And it was taken with a full-frame fisheye? Could have fooled me...incredible! Makes me want to go buy one now...

Absolutely wonderful. Technical perfection makes the ride perfect. Thanks for posting it at a large size (which I usually hate!)

Great shot! I love the way you put yourself (or a part of you anyway) in the picture. Would love to have this on my wall in a frame :)

Your photography is a testament to the fact that you need to be a risktaker to get the greatest shots! I don't mean litterally, but your work shows great courage, hunger for adventure and perfect timing. It's not enough to have a vision and the technical skill, you also need the courage to pull your head out of the sand and go where your instinct takes you. Thanks for sharing your life and your vision! I'm inspired!
