I happened upon a plant in the desert...at the very tops of the

plant were a gathering of ant and aphids...for what reason I

haven't a clue, but as a photo subject it was perfect.

when i first saw this, i saw just another photo. but when i actually looked at it, i kind of liked it. not really a great photo, but it works with the cloud background. it'd be nice if there was only the lone ant and if more of the plant was in focus (although it does give it a bit more depth this way)

Ants actually hang around aphids because they like the "honeydew" the aphids create. In fact, the ants are quite keen to manitulating the aphids to their advantage! Good shot, but some fill light (reflector?) might have helped the aphids be more visible... the ant looks good.
