virgilmlesnita 0 Posted June 3, 2005 Excellent, as usual! I like a lot the ideea behind your montages. (Ce serait interessant de savoir d'ou vient cette obsession pour les echelles et les gens qui doivent toujours monter! Une traduction mot-a-mot: The Solar Spots). All the best, Virgil Link to comment
almagnus 0 Posted June 3, 2005 Thanks Virgil. (I will answer in english). In fact "Les t⣨es solaires" means "solar spots",but also "solar chores"... so I need some help for an english title...As for ladders and ropes, peolpe going up etc.. the explanation is simple. I always find that digital alterations look false and flat if the actors (sometimes digitally set on the picture) don't interact with the elements of the back and foreground. "Interacting" means needing a link of some kind like ladders. The spectators are also a recurrent element. They give the visual link for the spectator you are at the moment. The main idea behind all this is to give a depth in the picture. A certain depth so that the day I pass by (as late as posible!) someone can still see an obvious act of creation and get into the picture just as I did... and I hope you do. Obviously, the A3+ print gives more emphasis and depth to the actual work. Yours, AM and thanks for your always generous comment. Link to comment
almagnus 0 Posted June 3, 2005 Sorry, Virgil wrote " it would be interesting to know where does this obsession for ladders and ropes, with kids always going up, come from". My answer is the message above this one. Link to comment
j_doyle 0 Posted June 3, 2005 Hi, Al. I knew immediately that this was yours. Another mystical, magical composition with a big emotional tug. I'm transfixed by the other-worldly sphere which obviously has such meaning for folks in this photo who are apparently cleaning the sun spots off the sun...Ha! The child's immobilizing wonderment is palpable. And my eye keeps bouncing strongly back and forth between the sun and the child. The color of the sand and lighting is absolutely stunning. A whole child's book could be written around this image. Excellent work once again. Regards, J Link to comment
virgilmlesnita 0 Posted June 3, 2005 Ok, Al, I got it now: as I read too fast I did not pay attention to the accent on 'a'. But then this is a translation problem which cannot be solved, I think. You have the same word in French: tache-tache with accent, for chore/task and spot. You should find a perfect equivalent in English but I don't think that's possible. We better ask a native speaker...As far as the subject of your images is concerned I have to say that I was struck by this obsession with the sky. You deal most of the time with the sky, the clouds, the rainbows, the moon. I therefore thought it might be a particulat haunting of some sort or other kind of methaphysical inclination of yours. But for the moment the 'technical'explanation will do :D(Et merci beaucoup pour ton commentaire) Link to comment
