Maybe to much saturation then.

Colors are good, but I find the pole in the lower left corner very distractive.

I think your image is overexposed by 1/2 to 1 f-stop. The pink feathers on the flamingo aren't as saturated as they could be. One thing to remember about slides--you should slightly UNDEREXPOSE them in order to keep the colors well saturated. An overexposed slide will result in washed-out colors. Velvia would have made the image look somewhat better also.

Velvia could have easily been used for this shot. The amount of saturation with velvia is depentant on the exposure. I personaly would like have seen this shot taken with it, but I know that some times you do not have a chance to use the ideal film of a shot and have to use what you got in the camera.

 

The fence row is a little distracting, but it doesn't block the focus of the image.

Definately, Velia or better exposure would really help. Also, and this might be related, the background looks a bit red. Excellent DOF!
