beautiful soft colors and an interesting expression captured in a candid, well done! two things. first, suggest turning it about 2 degrees to the right cuz of the line of the blue upside down triangle framing her face (nice!) being a little to the left. second, knowing you a little, i bet you would be loathe to crop out the hand behind her, though i would be tempted . . .

Ben I completely agree with you about the hand, I'll give it a go sometime. Rotating it a little doesn't bother me too much but I'll try that too. I really do apreciate your comments because they are always spot on - it's been good interacting with you and I look forward to more. I always enjoy your pictures and therefore respect your opinion and so will always take your advice seriously. Thanks again for taking the time, all the best, Miles.

Miles that's very kind. The funny thing is, i didn't pick up a camera until the digital revolution, so we are of a similar generation, but accustomed to different mediums.

On this one, do you know layer mask in photoshop? If you do, forgive this message. But basically, you set up a duplicate layer in layers, then choose to reveal layer mask in one of the options within the layers menu. Then you get two small screens in the lower right, one being the layer mask and the other being the photograph as you work on it. Choose the photograph and using paintbrush, paint in whatever shade of black makes sense to take out the hand and pants. The great thing about layer mask is, if you make a mistake, you can correct in the layer mask screen. If for example you paint black accidentally on the girl's blouse, you can paint black over the area, creating a "mask" that restores the color of the blouse. It also works in reverse. Say you take away too much of the black you have applied as you try to save the blouse, revealing a part of the hand again. Just paint in layer mask using white. Hope this makes sense. i didn't learn it for three years, and now its changed my abilities much for the better. Take care.
