I love the contracts and colors - from pure white to vibrant blue in the sky. Gives me a nice feeling when I see this picture. Thanks!

I take this shot during a trekking in alps (It's the Taillefer

mountains!). There are no post-prod on this shot and i haven't use

filter. If you want to see it, there are a B&W version of this shot

on my folder "mountains shots"

Tell me what you think about this shot, and if you think it will be

better and why?

comments and rate are welcome! thanks!

Excuse me for my poor english! I'm french!

The overall photo is great, however, the photo draws you into the disant land and clouds below. In my opinion that is where the person should be looking. If the person was more to the left with back to camera and looking into the distance the photo would be excellent

Lovely scene, and good composition.the overexposed snow hurts the image. Snow is hard to get the exposure correct. Might have decreased the exposure about 2/3rds of a stop, and put a little fill flash on him to keep detail in his face.

The theme of this photo is rather disappointing - a casual walker can stroll up to the top of this mountain without breaking a sweat (probably got out of his Mercedes which is parked just outside the frame) and casually yet cautiously look down at the clouds below. The harsh midday sun causes all kinds of exposure problems with the dark clothing and bright white (featureless due to over exposure) snow. Fill flash would have taken care of the shadows on the person's face and body while allowing you to expose for the snow better. All in all this comes across as a snapshot of this guys vacation.

The breaking jacket, like you say is a "polartec" jacket! (special fiber to resist to low temperature). Therefore a man who just go out of his Mercedes (like you say again) rarely have some trekking shoes and pants! Please take a map and look for Taillefer Mountains in alps, it's 3000m mountains (an it's a hard 8hours trekking) and i offer you to try to go at the top of the Taillefer by car! Tell me the result i'm very curious! In an other way, you take really good shots of mountains and i'm disapointed to see that you didn't realize that this shot is a real trekking picture!

I think you missed Chris' point.

i believe he was saying that it looks like this guy just walked out of a car, it would have been cool to see him with all his gear to get a better feel of what was involved in getting to this point.

hope you get that scanner fixed
