jim.henderson 1 Posted May 30, 2005 That's nice Sandy. I wonder if it could be a little sharper though? That's fixable, of course. Link to comment

bens 0 Posted June 1, 2005 sandy, very delicate task here to get the colors and lighting right and you've done a splendid job with those things. i'm on a similar pursuit lately and have a couple of suggestions to try as you go along, not meant as criticism of this image, because its lovely as is, but more that the image prompts me to mention them as they've come up recently for me (feel free to look in my nature folder at what i've been doing). first, sharpening is a bear because it can alter the delicate lighting, creating a harsher, less desired look. still, i have found it useful to selectively sharpen, and then tone down the selective portions, getting some increased clarity while cutting down on the increased brightness. i use a layer mask do sharpen just those parts where i want the eye to go. sharpening brings a second problem though, which is pixelation. i found a free downloadable demo model of neat image though, available on line, and it works wonders to smooth out a photo. sometimes i sharpen, use neat image, then sharpen a little more as i've described above. having neat image has really changed the quality of my images for the better because it gives me the ability to sharpen like never before (no, no association with neat image . . .) last, i really like playing around with composition. it would be interesting to see this tilted right by about 40 degrees, just to see. again, very nice work. ben Link to comment
daniel_benoit 0 Posted June 1, 2005 With regard to the Gentlemans comment on sharpness. I really don't think it is a matter of sharpness but of the translucent nature of that flower. Very nice Sandy. Link to comment
