Landrum Kelly 65 Posted May 28, 2005 Why so heavy with cyan on the skin tones? Otherwise, I like the shot a lot. Link to comment
andrewpgrant 0 Posted May 28, 2005 Simply b/c the more I pushed it that way, the more I liked it. The photo was 'pushed' in this direction to accomodate a bleak/cold/dark feel for the intended final image (see "at sea" in my portfolio). I decided to post this 'work in progress' version as I liked the shadows on her body (these are lost in the final version). Thanks for your comment, Lannie. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted May 28, 2005 Well, Andrew, I guess you added those colors deliberately, and apparently it was more than cyan, since I can't cancel it out with red alone. Link to comment
andrewpgrant 0 Posted May 28, 2005 There was indeed a lot of cyan manipulation, but only after partial desaturation... then also magenta subtractions... then green subtractions... then red added back... then curves in RGB and Blue... then contrast... then more black... then more curves... and so on and so on... ;-) There's something really intriguing about the extra red in the skin highlights in your version though... Landrum Kelly 65 Posted May 28, 2005 Yes, the shadows are very nice, and the cyan is not offensive, Andrew. I was just trying to see what else you did to get that effect, and thus trying to regain the natural color you probably started with. Always fun to fool with colors, and to try to figure out what someone did to get a particular effect. Nice work, in any case. Link to comment
andrewpgrant 0 Posted May 28, 2005 I know what you mean - it's a good way to learn also. Thanks again, Lannie. Link to comment
robert simpson 0 Posted May 28, 2005 I like the cyan. I looked at shore line and thought, "This is Canadian'. I love the level of colour and graphical abstraction. Link to comment
edward_hobin 0 Posted May 28, 2005 I kind of like the cyan toning. It gives the photo a surreal, dreamy look. Link to comment
andrewpgrant 0 Posted May 28, 2005 Robert: I'm glad you picked the Canadian content :-) Edward: Thanks... sureal and dreamy, albeit the darker side thereof, was an aim here. Link to comment
elina_kangas 0 Posted June 8, 2005 Really beautiful pic, and really beautiful 'she':-) I like this version definitely better. Link to comment
