Verry nice. I was so glad when I saw your picture. I would be happy if is not done by chance. Tell me that you want that picture as it is and you compoze the image like that purposely. Thanks.

To be honest Eugen, while walking along I took this photo with one hand, the other being in my girlfriend's hand, and these fellas started playing up to the camera; I fired away 3 shots glancing into the wonderful screen on my Leica Digilux 2. Composition was instinctive really and the moment just lucky although I do remember trying to make sure the main subject's eyes were not obscured. Cheers, Miles.

the only problem i have here is the square format, there is maybe not enough space left...

but that s my personal taste

Beautiful photo, Miles. Never mind these kind of photos (looking through) are usually controversial according to the old "rule" -- nothing in front of the face when shooting people. Here it works mainly because of the angle you've selected. Simon mentioned a square format. It's even better if framed so, imo. Regards. Blago

I prefer it uncropped. In the square format, there is something claustrophobic about it, because the curtain invades the whole frame... and the joy of those kids just dies.

Wider or tighter? Street/people shot or portrait? The same picture could be presented in both ways. Tighter (square) crop leads to an exquisite env. portrait and there's nothing claustrophobic there, just "getting closer". (Otherwise most of the portraits would be "claustrophobic".) The photographer managed to take those smiling faces so well that it'd be a waste to bury them somewhere in the backyard (if that's a backyard?). Making it wider has its own advantages, of course. I'd say again, it's a matter of presentation (taste). Regards. Blago
