Made this shot on a cold and windy afternoon with low winter-sun.almost impossible not to overexpose the horizon if the stone textureand color details should still be visible.

I prefer to underexpose the whole shot, then burn in detail where needed in the darkroom (digital or analog). With slide film when you over expose (the mountains here) you loose all detail and have nothing to work with in post processing.
