The comp and DOF is good, but the whites are blown out or overexposed. White is difficult that way.

I agree that the whites are blown out. But, I do like the soft effect.

How do the whites look in this?

There is more detail in them, but still a bit 'hot'.

What kind of processing did you do to get the softness?

I just downloaded a program called Net Image. I was just trying it out. The intention of the program is to smooth out noise in photos. However, I did notice, as I fooled around, that it could soften the pic. Try it, there is free version available.
