Inverpolly view revisited

ian cameron

I just can't help myself. I find the outline of these peaks in the Inverpolly reserve on the west coast of Scotland utterly compelling. I have posted a similar one before. I think this is miles better not least because I was lucky enough to get a good scan of this contrasty image taken at 4am whilst surrounded by the dreaded Scottish midge. This is a very accurate representation of the original velvia transparency a 0.45ND grad filter held the detail in a quite wonderful sky. Pentax 6x7II, 55-100 zoom polariser slightly backed off from max and a hard edged 0.45ND grad across sky and water. 1/2 sec at F22, Velvia. Please feel free to visit my website for some other recent uploads, Transient light, There are some superb new shots at Timecatcher too.

A different version of a previously uploaded image but with the

benefit of the increased Dmax of a film scanner as opposed to my

normal Epson Perfection 3200 flat bed. This is a very good match for

the original tranny.

I like the sky and the lines. I also like the contrast in the green and the shadows. Great shot.

It's a great Scotland landscape photo. The light is very impressive and the composition works very fine.

I know how is hard to obtain a good results from scanned velvia in particular if you use a ND and Pola (I had more problems to obtain a good results scanning velvia a little underexposed), but I belive that you reach an exccelnt result here: real sharp and all the shadows are showed in excellent way, the DMAX works fine.
