paula grenside 0 Posted May 18, 2005 Original crop to say the least; just the essential elements are shown and with the right perspective to convey the sailing off. Link to comment

labuenaluz 0 Posted May 20, 2005 Thank you all for the feedback, I enjoy you like this photo. Is a capture from a 22 day sea sailing trip from Balearic Islands in Mediterranean to the Canary Islands in Atlantic Ocean, 22 days and nights of wind, water, salt, sun, sky, and of course tuna! :) I made it from the deck alone in my guard basis (we were 2 skippers) in our third sunset, just before our first cold front was to arrive that night with a bit rough front W winds and some heavy squalls, nothing really bad, there where still 20 days to arrive! :-) Thank you again for your kind wordsBest, Rafael Link to comment
edbook 0 Posted May 21, 2005 excellent image... reminds me of the images I missed sailing here in Puget Sound... the glow on the boom and water make the image... Peace Link to comment
jay weston 0 Posted June 6, 2005 So how salty is your camera after shooting shots like this? :) Link to comment
labuenaluz 0 Posted June 8, 2005 Ed, John, Jay thanks for your feedback, Jay yes a bit salty and humid :), a hole month on board, and as well as the tripulation she handled all circumstances quite well 8^) Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted July 11, 2005 A course at 265 degrees in the Mediterranean in the late evening is just as good as it gets for such a shot, isn't it? I like many things here. First, the crop, which is original. Then, the way you get motion into the shot thanks to the spray of water. The full perspective is interesting, with the boom and the bow which point the eye to the right, where you find the island/headland which you imagine as a target, or something in the vast expanse of sea. The red hues reflected in the boom and off the spray also add to the being-there feeling. Now, where is jour jib? I do not seem to see any reefing in the main (unless it goes into the mast) so I'm surprised you've no foresail... or did you roll it for the sake of the shot, since would have been in the way of the sunset? labuenaluz 0 Posted July 11, 2005 Thanks for the comments Salvatore, your feedback is appreciated. The genoa we had for front sail you can see it rolled on front stay, mayor sail is w/out reefs wind was no strong enough still, it reefs with the winch system in mast, genoa was released and trimed a bit later, is true that maybe would have been interesant to see another one with genoa displayed, but for that time camera was in her dry bag, regards, Rafael Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted July 11, 2005 I would have drove my skipper mad asking for sails to be arranged for the picture taking operaion...! Looking forward to see other sailing shots of yours. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted August 9, 2005 Great use of this format to make us feel the vastness of the sea. I miss the reflection of the sun in the bom, but I like this one almost as much because of the format and composition. Regards. Link to comment
defpitch 0 Posted November 14, 2006 wow. this is cool. nice crop and colors. almost feel like im on the boat looking at this...saw this on the selected sample of pnet photos of the day on the homepage. nice work. Link to comment
alight 0 Posted November 14, 2006 Beautiful composition. The black frame is a pain in the...eyes (or visual cortex). What is this obsession of some photographers to frame everything? Cheers, Micheal Link to comment
michael_mellen 0 Posted December 25, 2006 Beautiful image. I love how the sailboat is sailing into the sunset, and the panoramic is terrific. Beautiful shot! 7/7 Mike Link to comment
