This is an excellent series Bobby. Quite different from most of your work, but it seems to have your stamp if that makes any sense. Not sure if you've begun pushing your work, but if not you should.

Jenna, yeah I have been trying to push my work to the next level, but often images just go through fazes of luck. that luck sometimes helps with progression.

It's funny, I just heard Larry Clark interviewed on the radio the other day (I think he has a retrospective coming up in NYC) and what images do I see on PN a few days later? Your latest postings remind me of some of his early stuff. Good work and keep it up. I have a feeling some good fortune is headed your way.

Tim I actually went to his exhibit at the International center of photography in NYC. Its amazing work. Have you checked out his book Tolsa??

Actually I meant exhibiting or trying to get some of your stuff published. I think your work's already at a very high level, so by pushing I meant trying to find a wider audience.

 

 

Jenna, he should keep pushing, don't want him to get a big head yet.

Bobby, I saw a show of his in Minneapolis at the Walker years ago and in Milwaukee a long time ago. He actually studied photography here in Milwaukee back in the early 60's for a year or so and then went to NYC and met Ralph Gibson and some other soon to be famous photographers.

Bobby seems to be grounded so I doubt he's going to get a big head! As I said before his work shows a maturity beyond his years. This series is particularly strong because Bobby isn't an outsider looking in. American Youth photographing American Youth. Can't get more real than that. Wish I had done the same, but instead I was off doing boring landscapes in my early twenties. Anyway I think Bobby is good enough now to start pushing his work. He's better than 99% of photographers two or three times his age.
