bill_kerner1 0 Posted May 16, 2005 Shot on a Canon A75, Getting ready to get a D70, I think I have an eye for this kinda stuff. What do you think? Thanks for your time and comments. Link to comment
screeny 0 Posted May 16, 2005 Best of this image is in my opinion the color and silky look of the water. Also the reflection and the several vertical elements o masts give it a nice touch What I think is not to my liking are the follwoing elelemts: 1) left centre, the bridge (or whatever it is) in the background, it's disturbing 2) on the matter of horizon: it's not horizontal... 3) the main point of interest the boat, it is dead centre in the middle of the frame/image, rather boring composition 4) it 's not a real silhouette, the boat(-s) is not totally black yet the colors of the boat that are visible are dark, greyish and dull. More or less undoing the golden color of th eair and water Link to comment
bill_kerner1 0 Posted May 18, 2005 I guess a little crop and some slight adjustments would make it that much better. Link to comment
bens 0 Posted May 24, 2005 hey bill, i like it. very nice mood. i read the comments above and i suppose if you were all-powerful you could blow up the bridge and get that boat off center right and all that stuff, but yea, you have an eye for this kind of thing if this is one example, and going out into the real world rarely results in 20-20 hindsight perfection. bill_kerner1 0 Posted May 25, 2005 Thanks Ben..... I was on the Jersey Shore for the summer and walked down to the bay with my camera and and a beer in hand.... I tried to hold the camera as close to the water as possible without getting it wet. I wish I had superpowers to always compose the shots and have the world stop to allow them to be captured. isaac madera 1 Posted May 26, 2005 Bill...I am supprised not to hear from these critics that the sun should have been more to the left and if you were zoomed out a hair you could have caught the whole refelction of the pole giving an even "mirror" look to the shot.... well, screw these guys! nomatter how good the image looks they will always ALWAYS find the smallest things to make you feel like you've done a crappy job. The bridge this, the boat that..bla bla bla...if they took the time to just stare at the image for more that one split second then they would see a beautifull, peaceful, soothing image that reminds you that nomatter how your day went, you can always find peace of mind.
