What can I say? If I had to pick between the two I guess it would be the 300mm because of the "IS". But I don't want to pick because the 400mm is a great lens too.

I think you would be best to save up and get both like me and get the best deal, they are both great Peter! I know its hard to pick. ;o)

If I did not get the 400mm at the deal I got it for I would not have gotten it, but I am glad that I did. Just remember this, it has to be Sunny to use it! the 300mm you can use anytime, I don't use tripods and don't want too. ;o)
