ankhbonk 0 Posted May 13, 2005 Probably the best photo I'll see today... I love the intensity of the green, though try and recover the blown highlights on the flower and bird. Wonderful capture. Link to comment
john kissane 0 Posted May 13, 2005 Wow Charles, thanks. This is the first time I have posted a picture and to get a compliment feels great. It's about time to get the pics out of the shoebox. Link to comment
bryan olesen 0 Posted May 13, 2005 Geez John, how big are these pads and what are they? That heron is about 2 feet tall I'm guessing, which would make them 6 feet across or bigger - is that right? Nice greens and reds, but just a bit soft maybe. Link to comment
john kissane 0 Posted May 13, 2005 It was taken at Wiamea Falls on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii. Beautiful park type complex with great "tropical" stuff. Everthing gigantic. Guessing (it was about 20 years ago) the pods were about 4-5 feet but maybe more. Regards Link to comment
john kissane 0 Posted May 13, 2005 Byran, sorry I see I didn't answer you questions specifically. Unfortunately I don't know what the pods are called. Link to comment
ramamohan_pai 0 Posted May 14, 2005 They are Lily Pads. Its very common for Birds (the ones that catch fish) to stand right in those pads. The pads being big can easily take the weight of medium sized birds. You can see a similar scene here in one of my pictures. http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1527622 Link to comment
