paula grenside 0 Posted May 12, 2005 Excellent choice of what to show in the photo, Naftali. The arm seems to be coming out of the frame. Link to comment
drybrain 0 Posted May 13, 2005 is this an effective presentation (whether you have seen the whole statue or not) Link to comment
jreades 0 Posted May 13, 2005 The crop seems a little tight -- wouldn't you want to have the rest of the statue's face in the frame and a little more space across the top to separate the gold 'things' from the border? Link to comment
drybrain 0 Posted May 15, 2005 thanks for commenting. this is a part of TheSpirit of Detroit statue by Marshll Fredericks on Woodward & Jefferson Ave. c. 1955-58. it is a de facto icon of the city. i find it a bit pompous, hence the twist i tried to put on it. Link to comment
drybrain 0 Posted May 15, 2005 "The crop seems a little tight" - yes, but i suspect it is a matter of taste; i do tend to crop tight, which is not always the best solution, but here i will stick with it. "wouldn't you want to have the rest of the statue's face in the frame" - not really (for the purpose of the shot i planned), though it may be interesting for a differnt shot. i haven't explored the face of this statue yet. "a little more space across the top to separate the gold 'things' from the border.." again a reasonable suggestion but not what i intended, i wanted the gold spikes to stick out of the frame. again - a variation i need to try. thanks for taking time to provide a detailed comment and making me think of alternatives.
