lupine 0 Posted February 28, 2006 Hi Jason: Even if you have to lie to us, let us know that everything turned out well! In many ways, it is a very disturbing image but I'm hoping someone came along and cut the net. Or is the net to actually capture the bird? I'll be checking out the rest of your work as well but felt compelled to ask if this little fellow went on it's way. Link to comment
jasonwilliamsphotography 0 Posted February 28, 2006 He was not harmed, every year they capture birds in this area to band them and track their migration. The birds are measured and weighed and banded if they do not already have a band and then they are released. I actually have a picture somewhere of this bird being released. Not on PN. I also have a picture of my daughter releasing a Hummingbird which I do have on PN. You give a donation to the bird banding group to release a bird. It was a wonderful opportunity for my kids to see the birds up close and personal and learn conservation:) Thanks for your concern:) Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted March 5, 2007 Your explanation is not a lie as Paul suggested? Wait, don't answer. Link to comment
lupine 0 Posted March 5, 2007 All this time has gone by and I am just now seeing your answer, Jason. Whew! Thanks for the explanation. Now that I look at the netting, it seems very fragile as to hopefully not cause harm to the birds. It's wonderful that your kids get to witness and participate in something like that. I too have had the honor of releasing a hummingbird. It was trapped in a friends home and for some reason, let me approach it, gently put my hands around it. I remember peeking in through a small opening in my fingers, astonishing. I walked outside, opened my hands, it hesitated for a split second and flew off. Great photo. I am now going to visit the rest of your work... Link to comment
