nicholasprice 0 Posted May 8, 2005 I would value your opinions as to this wide-angled shot. Link to comment

pjmeade 12 Posted May 10, 2005 Your BWs from Rome all seem to give a sense of scale to the buildings you photograph. This is more very good work. Best wishes. Pete Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted May 10, 2005 A very strong composition and good detail. The surrounding buttresses give a strong sense of the crowd watching in their tiers and the exposed cellars a dark suggestion of the blood stained entertainment. Very good. 6/6 Link to comment
nicholasprice 0 Posted May 10, 2005 Thanks Gary, I had a similar feeling being there. The Colosseum has a fantasic atmosphere. One is in awe of all the lives that were lost there for the viewing pleasure of the decadent! Thanks Tyler, thanks Alix, the lens at 28mm really opened up the architecture, and gives a sence of the space which this building contains. Thanks Richard! Well, its a small world! Perhaps we should all wear photo.net badges or caps, as it would be great to bump into each other at such photographable locations. Perhaps you were the guy that I saw who was taking even more photographs than myself? Thanks Pete. Everyone thought that I was mad taking only B&W film to Rome, but I wanted to do something different, and attempted to show something of my reverance for the great city! Thanks Colin, if only I had that super wide-angled lens of yours? Shooting detail was easy in the Roman light. I can recommend a week in the eternal city for anyone with an interest in history and photography! Fond regards to you all, Nick. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted May 11, 2005 Good angle Nick, what is interesting in that angle is the white path that has the shape of the cross , Compatible to the era of christianity. Good B/W choice, well yes with 10-22mm......( just bought one...) Link to comment

Yes I find that interesting too as this is the place were they fed the Christians to the lions for sport. Nice picture Nick I would like to see it in Colour too. DK. Link to comment
christos 0 Posted May 11, 2005 The use of the 'cross' is a great means of establishing a compositional coherence and harmony in your picture. It is also an interesting, thought provoking, semantic reference for the thematic object it depicts. I am puzzled that I 've missed this folder of yours so far. It seems to be full of little gems... promise to come back & take a closer look. Link to comment
