mighty

I photographed a strezletzia and then made a photo gel of the flower in bryce5 and then applied the gel to the terrain and windmill.

This is a beautiful digital artwork. But I'm curious about how you did it. Is it all computer-generated? Or is it partially computer-generated and partially "real" photos? Regardless, its gorgeous!

Amazing colour - I can just imagine Don Quixote riding into the frame. Like the previous reviewers, I'd love to know more details.

Breathtaking... Outstanding... I'm not one of those purists that don't consider this to be "photography". It is photographic art at it's best. I remember once I came in 2nd in a photography contest and the winner was black and white - hand colored. I remember being upset and even angry and (at the time) felt that it was not fair. I felt there should be another catagory and that the winner was art and not pure photography. I look back and know it was jealousy and fear. I'm older and wiser now (I hope) and feel total joy and excitement looking at this new way of photo manipulation! I hope to learn it myself someday... Congratulations.

I disagree Keith this is a good photo with out photo shop. When posting a photo I try to post what my minds eye see's I believe what Julie was doing here is presenting the subject as viewed through her minds eye. In addition I do not believe that Photo Shop can enhance every photo a bad photo is still bad. This is a good photo and a good enhancement.

REPLY TO KEITH. This is not a kpt plugin. This is one of my photos used as a texture. Have another look. I have since uploaded the photo used into my flower folder for you to view. In regard to the cost of Bryce which is over 200.00 by the way. I dont understand the relevance of this comment. Also it would be interesting to know why this graphic picture doesnot belong on photonet. For your information there are professional photographers taking photos and compiling texture cd's aimed at the graphics market. Get with it.

Well I caught you out. Your comments on my other digital were--I'm also really surprised that so many people are wowed by something that can be created in a few minutes of manipulation with a 3D program.

I really see no creativity required to produce this image. You took a standard picture of a flower and made it a pattern in a little "world" created for you by Bryce or whatever program you're using.

So now your asking me how it was done and yet you have made the above statement.

IMO, the creativity is in the idea, not the difficulty of action. Regardless of how long or short this took to do, it was the idea - or at least the intuition - that it would be effective that marks this as creative.

Yeah, clicking randomly until an interesting result is achieved is not very creative, but that's not the case here.

Julie... beautiful image. Clearly photo-illustration and wonderful in that genre. This image could probably make some money for you (if it hasn't already!). Love your work.

Since photo.net staffers don't seem to be enforcing any kind of harassment rules, I must present to you a personal email to me from the elegant, and eloquent, Ms. Nicholson:

And all because I posted some honest criticism. Unfortunately, you'll never see my comments and Ms. Nicholson's response; she deleted the corresponding images.

Jason,

She sent this to me after I rated a few of her phots. She also signed on under a second account that is now deleted for the sole purpose of flaming others.

Looks like a windmill on Mars, a poster for a sci fi movie, or the cover shot for a science fiction magazine. I mean that as a compliment. Effective composition and colors. Highly imaginative. 6\7.
