root 0 Posted May 7, 2005 It rarely occurs to me to second guess your compositions, but in this case, the yin/yang of the two lines (which I assume is the point of the image) might be stronger if the proportional spacing top and bottom was the same. Link to comment
eric_fredine 0 Posted May 7, 2005 Yes, I see what you mean Carl. I took the bottom of the door as my centre-line but in this case it might be better to move the centre a bit lower - the drain and bit of darker cement are probably acting as the real effective centre line anyway. In addition to the opposition of the crack and the line on the door, I also liked the balance between the smaller lines left of centre on the door and the bits of debris on the ground right of centre. In many ways, these continue the same fascination I have in the 'Prairie Waters' photos with 'co-incidental' arrangements of patterns above and below the dividing line. But this particular subject matter seems somewhat less popular for some reason though... Link to comment
root 0 Posted May 7, 2005 I think the low contrast of the bottom line makes it easy to miss the connection with the top. Low angle sunlight across the pavement might work. Link to comment
eric_fredine 0 Posted November 27, 2006 Thanks Saul - not so new anymore - but I enjoyed having a look at them again! Link to comment
