Great subject. Nice tonal range. It looks very otherworldly. I would like to see this with clouds not ending right even with the tree branch. The clouds could possibly look like the foliage if in the right spot. If it's a place you can get back to, I would like to see a series of photos of this with different cloud formations or maybe on a cloudless day.

Art: I tend to favor the B/W is to emphasize the structure and forms more than the color, which I often find distracting. Color image taken at the same spot on the same day here. Thanks for the comments all.

6/7: I think this composition is excellent. The ground textures and cloud definition would have been lost or easily overlooked if shot in color.

 

There are a couple of places where it looks like the film came close to burning out (base of the tree, ground behind the tree to the left). Perhaps that information was simply lost in A-to-D conversion. Was this image scanned from negative or print?
