I think the Angel should have been the focus.

I disagree with Eric,

 

If the Angel had been placed selectivly in focus with the same depth of field, then the cross would have become an unnesesary foreground detail. With a larger f-stop the similarly coloured cross, and statue would blend into one adding confusion.

I think that the angel is too large to be out of focus. When I first looked at the photo I saw an out of focus angel, then I searched and realized that the cross was focused and intended to be the main subject. Apart from that I like the composition and the theme. It attracted my attention instantly.

Also, it happens to be the more interesting shape, so (my) eye is drawn towards it. Separate the two pieces of art, and make the statue smaller. JMHO.
