This seems like a strange comment to me--this is supposed to be warm, early/late sunlight. It certainly doesn't look overly warm here to me.

The problem I have with these types of shots is the direction of the light doesn't look natural. It would be more believable if there was less light on the ground at the bottom. Perhaps a smaller reflector could have placed some light on a few of the flowers/needles without erasing the shadows we know should be there.

This photo is engaging because of the quality of the detail in the needles.
