derekwin 0 Posted May 4, 2005 Thanks I was very happy with the lighting here even though it was in the middle of the day. I just wish it had been a little sharper. Link to comment
ajweiss 0 Posted May 9, 2005 This photo was my favorite from your portfolio. I like the lighting, though I wish the in-focus area was slightly closer to the frontmost figure. Do you have a bigger version of this shot? I would love to get a better idea of what is here. Also, have you tried a black and white version? I was going to make an example for you, but I can't open this one in Photoshop for some reason... Link to comment
ajweiss 0 Posted May 9, 2005 Now that I've seen it bigger, I think the biggest change I would like to see is the blown highlights. Did you shoot this in RAW format? If so, pull down the highlights in your converter. If not, meter a brighter area next time (or shoot RAW). The out of focus front section would be better if it were MORE out of focus Emphasizing the middle figure would work if it looked less like a focusing error. Did you make your black and white copy with Channel Mixer? I would try it out. Also, this image needs more contrast in black and white (but don't blow the highlights!). Just to be clear: I do like this image. I'm just making suggestions to improve it. Adam Link to comment
derekwin 0 Posted May 10, 2005 Thank you Adam, I am starting to think there is something wrong with my camera's AF. :) I have never really been at the skill level that would warrant using RAW but now I am thinking I should be at least trying to shoot in RAW. I just used grayscale in PS. I liked the lighting for its shadows but I can see what you mean about the blown highlights. I will experiment more with it tonight and post the results. Thanks again.
