nicholasprice 0 Posted May 1, 2005 I was having a quiet beer in central Budapest, the capital city of Hungary in Eastern Europe. All of a sudden, this rather serious protest marched down the street. I couldn't work out what the protest was about, despite there being banners in several different languages, including English. It was however great to see ordinary people taking to the streets in this manner, and exercising their right to free speech in this way. It wasn't so long ago that such things could not have been possible behind the Iron Curtain! Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted May 2, 2005 I like the person in the middle apparently intent on walking through the mass of protestors! Or maybe he is walking backwards? Link to comment
nabs 0 Posted May 2, 2005 I think we should get to see more and more of these kind of photos in PN. One gets to see a lot of digital wizardry here. Beautiful images, very aesthetically appealing, but it ends there. Its time now that some of us should start to capture life as it is . Let our photos tell a hundred stories. Its human interest stories that makes great photographers, others stay confined to greetings cards. I think Nick is going to the right direction. Regards and all the best. Link to comment
nicholasprice 0 Posted May 2, 2005 Thanks Colin, he was indeed walking against the flow. There was room for him to walk around the side of the protest, but I suspect that he did not share their point of view, and wanted to make his own protest, against the protestors! Thanks Nabarun, your words are exceedingly kind, and most flattering. I agree with your sentiments, about honest story telling in photography! The second shot above, is the same protest, later that day. I happened upon the march's conclusion at this grand, heroic statue in the grounds of the Hungarian Parliament. Regards, Nick.
