stevespencer 0 Posted May 1, 2005 Very interesting trees. The whole scene holds interest, as the viewer's eye takes it all in. A good documentary photo with aesthetic appeal. A little busy. Some leaves on borders, which, if removed might make better. -s Link to comment
sallycd 0 Posted May 3, 2005 Axel, a picture with a frame is akin to a good dresser. This is good. No wonder your donated photos to our Oncology Unit attracted attentions from our patients who were in that room and from my colleagues. Thank you for your generousity. Much appreciated. joam boam 0 Posted May 5, 2005 I love your Baobad series, all of them, but I guess this is the best. It is so unusual, a bit eerie, completely out of this world. Link to comment

lupine 0 Posted February 8, 2006 Axel: I was looking at some of the different examples of this photo. They are all interesting. The trees look inflatable! While it's true there are many ways to crop this image, remove the leaves on the left, remove more of the road at the bottom, this is still an amazing image! I love the "blue" shirt on the young lady. I know it's not always possible to do some of the suggestions offered for a myriad of reasons and it's all so subjective and personal anyway. For example: I would love to see these trees during sunset shot through a telephoto lens! BUT, Maybe there's a mountain there that blocks the sun. I would love to use a telephoto lens to compress the shot but maybe one can't back up far enough due to a river or a buildiing directly behind us, like I said, a myriad of reasons. Whichever, whatever, this is a very interesting and beautiful shot and as I've learned the hard way, there is no perfection in the world and especially in photography. Great shot and all great suggestions. Link to comment
axelg 3 Posted February 9, 2006 Hello Paul, thank you very much for your comments! This site is rather famous and the most beautiful pictures are made during sunset. Search "baobab alley, madagascar" in Google and you'll find many many shots I guess. This is in the middle of nowhere, no village or mountains around (the road crosses swamp and grassland). Photography is never perfect as you say but this place is, as those trees are lined up and it's 100% natural. They are over 700-1000 years old! Best wishes, Axel. Link to comment
