Love This Photo.

The imagery is just staggering, very well done Larisa.

I must say, if I ever manage to take one this good, I may stop there. But you please keep shooting!

But I just don't get it. Yes it was done very well, and obviously there went a lot of work into it, and the creator has some good PS skills. But I can't see why everyone think this a great picture. Nonwithstanding the realism issues, I mean I can understand that we should think she is a mermaid, but we can also see that the original model was standing or sitting behind the counter, and at that angle "her tail" couldn't be represented in this angle.

What does this picture say to you? What story does it tell? Maybe someone can clarify some of this and not just praise the picture with the usual wow! or great! or wonderful! without putting some deeper thought into it.

Larisa, if you read this, it is definitely not personal, and I don't even know where to start to try to create something like this (not that I want to, but someday maybe I would, then my skills will obviously be lacking). I am just genuinly trying to understand, and broaden my perceptions. Thank you. JH

What does this say to me? It seems to me that the 'mermaid' has been sold as a piece of 'meat', and her expression tells me that it is a fate she's been expecting and has resigned herself to. The time has come and she just wants it over with.

Above and beyond that, it could have sexual connotations, or it might even be a commentary on diets containing meat. Or maybe it's just a funny exercise in photoshop.

Whatever the photographer is trying to say, I enjoy it.

Hm, 'drinks like a fish' springs to mind. This image would suit those who look at art purely intellectually I suppose. But it's dead boring. Technically it's 90%+ but aesthetically it has no 'life', no emotion. It has as much spark as an illustration for an ad in a magazine - heavy on the technical excellence but light on the 'pull' that a good photo has.

Some of your photos are awesome, BTW. But this one is purely dull.
