After sharpening, etc. ... I did give it a 10% boost ... maybe not enough ... I also played with sat a bit but didn't like the results. Maybe I should have shot this with my circular polarizer? I'll keep working ... thanks for the comment.

I agree, needs more contrast. Rather than bump it up in PS, try taking this photo at a different time of day. That should give you a much better result.

Thanks for the comments ... I agree with your comments. Unfortunately, when we go here once or twice a year, my photography is normally limited to early morning and early afternoon. This shot is to the east and would be best later in the day to evening ... when I am normally consumed with activities with my wife and friends such as going out to dinner. Thanks again ...

I think it is more a matter of brightness and saturation than contrast, even though it does not look bad to me as it is. You mark it as manipulated and I wonder what manipulation was done, since it seems to me that you did not even correct the scan, as in many other of your photographs. Just reduce brightness and increase saturation a bit, and the scan's "veil" disappears and it starts really looking like Velvia. I have done this and above is the result, I hope you do not mind. Apart from this the scene is pleasing and composition nice, with the dark tree trunks standing out against the leaves' backgroud confusion. I hardly ever rate or comment on manipulated photos since I feel I do not really know what I am looking at, but perhaps you are misinterpreting PN rules in this respect ... Regards.

Really not manipulated as normally used. I only did normal PS curves, etc. I do like your rendition better ... I really need to do a lot more learning of PS (although I certainly have enough books!). Thanks again for commenting and making a very good suggestion.

A great photographer once wrote

"But I also believe in upholding the quality of the site.

PN is not a place to merely submit just any old street
shot, poor technical quality shots (under or over exposed
or with poor focus), nonselective travelogue or immature
compositions. Try to be unique, exhibit an exceptional
technique with maximal benefit from lighting, aperture or
shutter selection."

I totally agree!!
