to touch the cold

arctic monkey

Tripod, porchlight, and my finger. I would have liked to experiment more at the time but I had just returned from a dinner party and slide show at which I may have had one too many delicious pints of Guinness. And it was cold.

Jason.

As you're asking, I reckon this photo is primarily dominated by light. The cone effect showing increasing illumination is rather good, as is the presence of the hand. I'm not too sure what to make of the motion blur in the fingers, but again, this is governed by the balance between the available light & shutter speed. The absence of light in the bulk of the picture is another significant feature.

Thank you very much Emeka (I like your name). Regarding my biography, since I've re-evaluated my portfolio based on the absolute fundamentals of what makes a photograph "work" I've been concentrating on balance, dominance, perspective, line, shape, proportion, texture, rhythm and...LIGHT, according to a book I carry with me at all times, "Photographing the World Around You" by Freeman Patterson. Your comment makes much sense and as a result I will transfer this photo into the light folder for I agree with your observation. As for the motion of the finger, if you happened to read the tech details I was under the influence of the delectable drink that is Guinness Stout. Perhaps that will help!! Thanks again.
