tom l 0 Posted April 14, 2005 Effects done in Corel Photo Paint. Comments/Critiques welcomed. Thanks, Tom. Link to comment
dyowell 0 Posted April 14, 2005 It comes off as a little too much for me. The framing is nice but a little heavy...fights with the monument for center stage. The coloring is innovative but, to my eye, the effect is a bit harsh. I'm wanting to see this scene with soft, subtle colors. (But I've been accused of being old-fashioned before!) Link to comment
sunapeephoto 0 Posted April 14, 2005 Good try, better than I could do certainly, but the building appears slanted and the edges between the building and sky are too sharp. A few tweaks and this would be really good, though arguably no longer a photograph. Link to comment
tom l 0 Posted April 14, 2005 Thanks, Dick for the comments. I do appreciate them even when they are critical. I chose the bright colors to match the festive mood of the Cherry Blossom Festival. I tend to agree with you about the conflict for what is the main subject. I found that a problem while I was shooting - I wanted to concentrate on the cherry blossoms so I tried to keep them in focus. Yet I also wanted the location to recognizable so I had the monuments in the backgound only they do tend to compete for being the central point of focus. Link to comment
tom l 0 Posted April 14, 2005 Thanks, John for your comments. I'm afraid I don't see the slant in the building at all. As for the sharpness of the building and sky, I may have oversharpened this when I reduced it down for display on the web. It does not seem overly sharp on paper I printed earlier. Link to comment
